the IMPORTANCE if giving back
When I speak at events, schools, to youth in general I try & keep it as reel as possible. My story isn’t easy to hear but it needs to be heard by young people.
Back in Launceston yesterday with Will Smith & the crew from JCP Youth talking to a school about the important of volunteering & community service🙋🏻♂️🙋🏼♀️
I spoke about Jireh House (A shelter for women & children experiencing domestic violence & alcoholism) taking my family in when we fled to Tasmania from Darwin & that being the reason I created the Darran Petty Film giving tree. Raising thousands of presents over the years.
How with the good people from the Salvation Army we wouldn’t have had Christmas presents when I was young. How many children this year will go without except for services like the Salvation Army.
I spoke about my various works with people experiencing homelessness & how something small for us can be something life changing for someone else.
Tasmanian youth.. Especially ‘the at risk & vulnerable’ need to know that if you Never Ever Give Up you can lead a worthy life & the best way to say thank you to those that have helped you get there, is by giving back.
Very much looking forward to my next speaking speaking engagements. 2022 is going to be a powerful year✊🏻
